Basketball Game Preview: Sparks Railroaders vs. Truckee Wolverines

The Sparks Railroaders will square off against the Truckee Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 13 consecutive losses for Sparks and six for Truckee.

Sparks is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against North Valleys on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Sparks was dealt a 63-28 defeat at the hands of North Valleys. The Railroaders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-13.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Eli Flores, who posted 13 points. That was a full 46.4% of Sparks' points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Joshua Castillo-Rodriguez was another key player, putting up five points.

Meanwhile, Truckee lost 64-42 to Wooster on Friday.

Truckee's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Sparks, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-18.

Sparks suffered a grim 67-46 defeat to Truckee when the teams last played on January 8th. Can Sparks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
