Softball Game Preview: Heritage Timberwolves vs. Evergreen Plainsmen

The Heritage Timberwolves will challenge the Evergreen Plainsmen at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Evergreen took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Heritage, who comes in off a win.

While Heritage's victory against Mountain View wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Timberwolves had just enough and edged out the Thunder 5-3. The Timberwolves haven't had any issues with the Thunder recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Jaila Ellis made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Kylie Thomas was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Evergreen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Camas, falling 14-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Plainsmen have suffered against the Papermakers since April 29, 2016.

Heritage's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Evergreen, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Heritage skirted past Evergreen 7-5 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Timberwolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Plainsmen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
