Baseball Recap: Fort Hill Starts off Right with Win over Southern

Fort Hill took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Southern Rams, sneaking past 4-3. For the Sentinels, this counts as revenge for the 5-1 victory the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Bobby Brauer made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Brauer wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carson Bender, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Fort Hill wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 9-3 win against Mountain Ridge on the 22nd. As for Southern, they have also already played their next contest, a 15-0 victory against Moorefield on the 22nd.
