Basketball Game Preview: Moffat Cowboys vs. Lake City

The Moffat Cowboys will take on Lake City in a holiday battle at at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Moffat will be strutting in after a win while Lake City will be coming in after a defeat.

Moffat is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Antonito 54-32 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Cowboys have posted since February 9th.

Moffat found their leader in sophomore Preston Heater, who dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Heater has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tulasi McBride, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Lake City unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 43-16 loss at the hands of Creede. Lake City has struggled against Creede recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Moffat's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Lake City, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything came up roses for Moffat against Lake City in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, as the squad secured a 59-15 victory. Does Moffat have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
