Softball Recap: Scappoose Picks Up Tenth Straight Win at Home

Scappoose waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Seaside Seagulls 15-3. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Elly Casey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Casey was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Saige Casey was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Bloyd, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Scappoose kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.

Scappoose pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Seaside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scappoose will take on St. Helens at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Indians 2.2, the Lions 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Seaside, they will square off against McKay at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
