Childersburg is a perfect 10-0 against Comer since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. We've got a battle between Tigers coming up. Childersburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Childersburg turned things around against Fayetteville on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 12-8. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their two-run performance the match before.
Madison Brooks was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Taraji Jones was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madisyn LaTaste, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Comer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 20-2 to Vincent.
Comer saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nema Holley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was Holley's first of the season. Kylie Harrison was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.
Comer's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Childersburg, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.
Childersburg's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. Childersburg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Comer, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Childersburg continue to outrun the ball?
Childersburg was able to grind out a solid win over Comer in their previous matchup back in March, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Childersburg since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
