Baseball Recap: Beekmantown Has No Trouble Against Potsdam

The Beekmantown Eagles got the win against the Potsdam Sandstoners on Thursday by a conclusive 12-2. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Steven Bronson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 16 over 5.1 innings pitched. Those 16 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Estes, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season. Hunter Adams was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Beekmantown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Beekmantown has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Potsdam, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Beekmantown and Peru will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:30 p.m. on the 28th. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.7, the Nighthawks 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Potsdam, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Franklin Academy at 4:30 p.m. on May 1.
