Football Game Preview: Hernando Tigers vs. Horn Lake Eagles

Hernando is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out on the road to challenge the Horn Lake Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Hernando's defense has only allowed 12.4 points per game this season, so Horn Lake's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Hernando is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 38 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Lafayette on Friday. They took a 17-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Commodores. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Horn Lake had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 21-14 win over the Tigers.

Hernando better keep an eye on Floyd Sinegal. He was instrumental in Horn Lake's win, rushing for 107 yards and two TDs.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Horn Lake's defense and their five sacks. Reggie Fairley was especially locked on to South Panola's QB and sacked him three times. Linkin Sanders was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making nine total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Having lost for the first time this season, Hernando fell to 4-1. As for Horn Lake, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 4-1.

Hernando took a serious blow against Horn Lake in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 35-0. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
