Basketball Recap: Landon Watson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pike County over Greenville

Pike County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 50-43 to the Greenville Patriots.

Pike County's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Watson, who shot 45% from the field en route to 14 points and seven rebounds. Watson is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last seven games he's played dating back to last season. Jayln Hudson was another key player, putting up eight points and six boards.

Greenville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shun Moreland, who went 8-for-16 to rack up 19 points. Another player making a difference was Jarvis Simmons, who made all 5 shots he took to post 11 points and three blocks.

Pike County's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Greenville, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pike County will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Kendrick at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Greenville, they will host Northwest Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Patriots' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
