Baseball Recap: Slidell Find Success

Slidell never let their opponents score on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Pearl River Rebels. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Pearl River's batters probably weren't too happy with Troy Green, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (he gave up three walks). Green also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Slidell is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Slidell's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Charles Burdett, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Brody Lupo was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

The victory got Slidell back to even at 4-4. As for Pearl River, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4-1.

Slidell will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pearl River: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
