Preview: Academy of the New Church Lions vs. Lawrenceville School Big Red

Academy of the New Church has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Lawrenceville School Big Red at 5:45 p.m. on January 26th. One thing working in Academy of the New Church's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.

In what's become a running theme this season, Academy of the New Church gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 82-26 win over Barrack Hebrew Academy on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-11.

Academy of the New Church can attribute much of their success to Ryan Warren, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds, and Cameron Smith, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nolan Waldon, who scored nine points along with six steals.

Meanwhile, Lawrenceville School's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Mercersburg Academy 65-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Academy of the New Church has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Lawrenceville School, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
