Cumberland is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Prout, who was ranked ninth in their home state at the time (Cumberland was ranked eighth). Cumberland fell just short of Prout by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. It was the first time this season that Cumberland let down their fans at home.

Meanwhile, Chariho had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.7 runs), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They never let the Bengals onto the board and left with a 9-0 victory.
