Baseball Game Preview: Manchester Red Hawks vs. Tolland Eagles

Manchester and Tolland are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Red Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Tolland took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Manchester, who comes in off a win.

Manchester is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest victory since April 5, 2024 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Enfield 5-3.

Dallas Manganello spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Angel Rodriguez was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Sean Hickey also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Manchester lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Tolland suffered their closest defeat since April 16th on Wednesday. They fell just short of RHAM by a score of 5-3. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Raptors recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Evan Clark made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run.

Tolland's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Manchester, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8.

Manchester was able to grind out a solid win over Tolland in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 6-1. Do the Red Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
