Baseball Recap: Germantown Comes Up Short

After flying high against Quitman last Thursday, Germantown came back down to earth. The Mavericks fell 5-2 to the Madison Central Jaguars on Tuesday. If the Mavericks were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Germantown got a good showing from Brayden Simpson, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Simpson has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Germantown saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Everett, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Germantown now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Madison Central, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.

While Germantown had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
