Baseball Recap: Cascade's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Cascade came out on top against Lafayette Jefferson on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Cadets took their contest against the Bronchos 5-2. Those five runs were actually the fewest the Cadets have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Cascade let Toby Savini and Cort Hubner run wild. Savini got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Hubner went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Those three hits gave Hubner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braxton Lewis, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

The win (which was Cascade's third in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lafayette Jefferson, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4.

Looking ahead, Cascade will face off against Sullivan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they will challenge Lebanon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
