Football Recap: Wilson Central Wildcats vs. Rossview Hawks

Wilson Central couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 22-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rossview Hawks on Friday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

Chaz Martin and Antuan Mckethan certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Martin gained 104 total yards and a touchdown, while Mckethan rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown.

Wilson Central's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Evan Harwell.

The critical scores for Rossview came from Reed Bryant, Johnny Cabaleiro, and Kole Phillips.

Wilson Central will head out on the road to square off against Northwest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rossview, they will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on Logan County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
