Soccer Game Preview: Armstrong vs. Varina

The Armstrong Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Varina Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Armstrong came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Atlee, falling 7-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Varina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They lost 9-0 to Hermitage. That's two games in a row now that Varina have lost by exactly nine goals.

Varina's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Armstrong, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6-1.

Armstrong took their victory against Varina when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 7-3 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
