Baseball Recap: Fossil Ridge Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

Fossil Ridge came out on top against ThunderRidge on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run fifth inning. The SaberCats' pitchers stepped up to hand the Grizzlies a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the SaberCats, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Vedant Sharma looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Fossil Ridge got a massive performance out of Luc Gaca-Thiele, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave Gaca-Thiele a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Griffin, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI.

Fossil Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive games.

Fossil Ridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for ThunderRidge, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15.

Coming up, Fossil Ridge will venture away from home to square off against Windsor at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
