Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Archbold

Archbold extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 6-3 in the process. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bryan Golden Bears a 4-0 shutout. The Blue Streaks were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Golden Bears, so the Blue Streaks were just returning the favor.

As for Bryan, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2. The matchup marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

For Bryan's part, Thea Staten put in work no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Staten has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. That stolen base was her first of the season.

Staten wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Amiyah Langham, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.

Coming up, Archbold will be playing at home against Otsego at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so the Blue Streaks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bryan, they will challenge Bath at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Golden Bears are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
