Volleyball Recap: Lansing Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Blue Valley Southwest + How To Watch

Lansing faced Blue Valley Southwest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Lions took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Timberwolves. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Timberwolves: they've now lost five in a row.

While Lansing was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-23.

Avery Sands paced Lansing's offense, picking up 11 kills. Sands got some help from Brooklyn Andrews and her 19 assists. Sands was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Lansing's defeat dropped their record down to 27-9. As for Blue Valley Southwest, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 21 of their last 23 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-4 record this season.

Lansing will host Sumner Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Blue Valley Southwest, they have already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Olathe East on the 21st.
