Basketball Game Preview: Montcalm Generals vs. River View Raiders

Montcalm hasn't had much luck against River View recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Montcalm Generals are taking a road trip to face off against the River View Raiders at 7:00 p.m.

Montcalm is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. The match between them and Braxton County didn't end well, with Montcalm falling 37-18.

Meanwhile, River View can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They strolled past Hurley with points to spare, taking the game 72-56. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 80th in West Virginia, while the Rebels are ranked 307th in Virginia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

River View found their leader in sophomore Chasity Kennedy, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 20 boards. Those 20 rebounds gave Kennedy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaci Hatfield, who posted 18 points.

River View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in ten consecutive games.

Montcalm's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for River View, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Montcalm was taken down by River View 70-33 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Kennedy, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 boards.
