Baseball Recap: Monrovia Victorious

Monrovia had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 10-6 win over the Castaic Coyotes on Thursday.

Sutton Powers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Powers was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Kaleb Ellison and Braydon Blackmore did most of the damage at the plate: Ellison went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Blackmore went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Ellison has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Troy Grise, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Monrovia's victory bumped their record up to 18-7-1. As for Castaic, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-10.

Looking ahead, Monrovia will take on Moorpark at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.4, the Musketeers 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Castaic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
