Basketball Recap: Trinidad Comes Up Short

Trinidad was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-38 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Park Burros. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Burros this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 30-28 back in February.

Trinidad lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Maya Morales, who posted eight points and five rebounds. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Danica Shipley, who scored 13 points along with six assists and six boards.

South Park's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cali Fogelsonger, who put up ten points and three steals. Trinity Walker was another key player, putting up 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Trinidad's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for South Park, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Trinidad will head out to take on Hoehne at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hoehne's defense has only allowed 27.1 points per game this season, so Trinidad's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for South Park, they will challenge Akron at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
