Football Game Preview: Grapeland Sandies vs. Deweyville Pirates + How To Watch

The Grapeland Sandies will face off against the Deweyville Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Grapeland's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last seven contests.

Grapeland is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Lovelady by a score of 77-69 on Friday.

Grapeland had a senior duo take command as Maleek Johnson gained 348 total yards and five touchdowns and Sean Walker rushed for 237 yards and four scores while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Johnson also set a new season-high mark in rushing yards with 318. Diego Fajardo made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Grapeland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 585 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Grapeland's defensive line and their three sacks. Jesse Ellington was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Fajardo got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Deweyville beat West Hardin 44-34 back in October. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Oilers: they've now won seven in a row.

Grapeland's record now sits at 7-3. As for Deweyville, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
