Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Mount Vernon). They blew past the Greenville Patriots 60-20  on Friday. Considering the Mustangs have won three games by more than 39  points this season, Friday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Keon Clealand produced another solid  performance rushing for 183 yards and three  TDs on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 177 yards and three  touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. His longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Mount Vernon's leading receiver  Taurean Rawlins was  Clealand's top target yet again, picking up 126 receiving yards and a pair of  scores.
 They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mount Vernon was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 372  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've managed all season.
 Another reason for the win was Mount Vernon's imposing  defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Greenville's QB  won't forget  Coleson Quesinberry anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Another thorn in the Patriots' side was  Ethan Siggers, who picked up  a  sack and made 11 total tackles.
 Loss or not, Greenville got some senior leadership from  Marquel Deering and  Jamere Smith.  Deering rushed for 304 yards and one  touchdown while picking up 17.9 yards per carry, while  Smith gained 289 total yards.
Mount Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Greenville, they now  have a losing record of 3-4.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Vernon will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against King's Ridge Christian at 3:45  p.m.  on  the 24th. As for Greenville, they will be playing at home against Trion  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. The Patriots will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.88  points per  contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
