Why it's big: The Class 6A state quarterfinals will be played on Friday night, and this rematch of Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference rivals might be the best game on the board.

Center Grove (11-0) defeated Warren Central, 42-38, in the opening game of the year, setting an early tone for what turned into the Trojans' first unbeaten regular season since 1995.

Warren Central started the year 0-2 but is 8-1 ever since, including a win against Cincinnati power St. Xavier. The Warriors are seeking state title No. 2 in the past three seasons and their seventh since 2003.

Names to watch: Center Grove tries to wear out its opponents with a run-heavy, ball-control offense. The Trojans' top offensive performer this season has been running back Titus McCoy. The junior has 1,411 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns.

Junior Zach Summeier has thrown for 1,807 yards and 12 touchdowns in his first year as Warren Central's starting quarterback. He was an efficient 11-for-16 with 207 yards and a score in a 49-7 rout of Perry Meridian last week.
