Basketball Recap: Westlake Falls Short Against Ranked Lehi

On Tuesday, Westlake faced Lehi in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Westlake Thunder fell to the Lehi Pioneers 66-60. The Thunder were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pioneers earlier this season, when they won 54-53.

It was another big night for Easton Hawkins, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten boards for Lehi. That's the most points Hawkins has posted since back in November of 2024. Saxon Young was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Westlake's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for Lehi, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westlake has already played their next matchup (against Pleasant Grove), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lehi will take on Skyridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lehi is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.7 points per game this season.
