Kayla Ortiz has led Conner in runs on the season and she led the team again on Wednesday. Ortiz scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, good enough for us to rate the performance as the best she's had all season long. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Looking ahead, Ortiz and Conner will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Simon Kenton at 5:30 p.m. The Cougars will be headed into this one with a sizable disadvantage in the rankings (they're ranked 92 places lower in Kentucky), but they're not letting that get them down.
