Scottsboro's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Colton Harding, who threw for 209 yards and three TDs on only 13 passes. Harding's passing game has become a key predictor of the Wildcats' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-4 otherwise. Jacobi Edmonson helped Harding out on the ground, rushing for 76 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.

Meanwhile, St. Clair County waltzed into their contest on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They enjoyed a cozy 41-22 win over the Rams.

A big part of St. Clair County's victory came down to the chemistry between Landyn Smith and his top target Joshua Douthard. Smith threw for 371 yards and three TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes while Douthard gained 193 total yards. That's the most passing yards Smith has posted since back in November of 2024.

St. Clair County didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Carver Birmingham to a completion percentage of just 44%. That defensive display was nothing new: the Fighting Saints have limited their opponent to a lower and lower completion percentage in three consecutive games.

Scottsboro's record now sits at 7-4. As for St. Clair County, their record is now 10-1.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Scottsboro has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 186.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like St. Clair County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 153.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Scottsboro was able to grind out a solid win over St. Clair County in their previous meeting back in August of 2020, winning 14-7. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Fighting Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
