Wednesday just wasn't the day for Archbishop McNicholas' offense. They fell 3-0 to Blanchester on Wednesday.
Natalie Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
Meanwhile, while Bishop Fenwick put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Archbishop Alter. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Knights. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Mackenzie Gibbons made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles and four RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Snelling Kinsey, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Myles Carolyn was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Bishop Fenwick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Bishop Fenwick's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Archbishop McNicholas, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Archbishop McNicholas took their win against Bishop Fenwick in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 18-1 score. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
