Basketball Game Preview: Wicomico Indians vs. Pocomoke Warriors

Wicomico is 10-0 against Pocomoke since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Wicomico Indians will get right back to it and host the Pocomoke Warriors at 5:00 p.m. One thing working in Wicomico's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

On Wednesday, Wicomico really took it to Crisfield for the full four quarters, racking up a 64-13 victory. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 29 points or more this season.

Wicomico can attribute much of their success to Se'Lah Foreman, who went 12 of 19 on her way to 27 points along with six assists and three steals, and Trinity Purnell, who went 9 for 12 en route to 18 points and six rebounds. Foreman has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 25 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalia Almonte, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Pocomoke played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Decatur, falling 72-29. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-19.

Loss or not, Pocomoke got some senior leadership from Donyae Washington and Maddie Esham. Washington almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards, while Esham had 11 points.

Wicomico pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.6 points per game. As for Pocomoke, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Everything came up roses for Wicomico against Pocomoke when the teams last played back in February, as the squad secured a 72-35 victory. Does Wicomico have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pocomoke turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
