Recap: Newman AA Cardinals vs. Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech
After a string of 12 wins, the Newman AA Cardinals's good fortune finally ran out on Sunday. They took a 85-69 bruising from Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (67), Newman AA still had to take the loss.
Newman AA's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tommy McKiernan, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Quinn Costello was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Newman AA's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-3. As for Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Newman AA will head out on the road to square off against Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Newman AA has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,284 points over their last 17 matchups. As for Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Newman AA on February 17th.
