Trinity Christian Academy extends home losing streak to eight

Recap: Trinity Christian Academy Lions vs. South Gibson Hornets

After flying high against the Tipton-Rosemark Academy Rebels on Friday, the Trinity Christian Academy Lions came back down to earth. Trinity Christian Academy suffered a rough 54-30 defeat at the hands of South Gibson on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Trinity Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while South Gibson is ranked 65th).

Despite the defeat, Trinity Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Mary Grace Cleek scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Cleek posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Mallory Arnold, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.

South Gibson found their leader in underclassman Jade Reed, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Hallie Allen was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and six assists.

Trinity Christian Academy's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-14. As for South Gibson, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trinity Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Jackson Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. South Gibson will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Obion County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
