Basketball Recap: Burroughs Piles Up the Points Against Whitfield

Burroughs entered their tilt with Whitfield on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Whitfield Warriors 49-17. Given the Bombers' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Warriors are ranked 457th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Burroughs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Moriyah Douglass, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. The game was Douglass' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Breaunna Ward was another key player, putting up eight points along with nine rebounds and seven assists.

Burroughs was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Burroughs' victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.6 points. As for Whitfield, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Burroughs will challenge Westminster Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Whitfield has already played their next matchup (against Lutheran North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
