Soccer Game Preview: Airport vs. South Aiken

Airport is 0-10 against South Aiken since March of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Airport Eagles will head out to take on the South Aiken Thoroughbreds at 7:00 p.m. Airport will be strutting in after a victory while South Aiken will be coming in after a loss.

Airport took a three-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Westwood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Airport had just enough and edged out Westwood 2-1 on Wednesday.

Jesus Velaquez and Edgar Brito scored both of Airport's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Meanwhile, South Aiken managed to keep up with Brookland-Cayce until halftime on Monday, but things quickly went downhill from there. South Aiken came up short against Brookland-Cayce, falling 4-1. The Thoroughbreds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The win got Airport back to even at 1-1. As for South Aiken, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Airport might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from South Aiken in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Airport avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
