Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Princeton

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Princeton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Washington Hatchets 12-11. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Tigers, who until this contest were averaging 3.39 runs allowed.

The team relied heavily on Conor Marsh, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Quinn Bush, who went 3-for-6 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Princeton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.

The win (which was Princeton's third in a row) raised their record to 15-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Looking ahead, Princeton will welcome Vincennes Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Alices have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Washington, they will head out to face off against North Posey at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
