Benjamin Franklin and Chandler Prep are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Chargers will venture away from home to face off against the Titans at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Benjamin Franklin will bounce into Thursday's match after beating ALA - Ironwood, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Chargers put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 22-8 victory on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.
Benjamin Franklin got a massive performance out of Isabella Villalobos, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Addysen Yarn, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Chandler Prep had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Braves as they made off with a 16-1 win.
Giada Lowman and Kyra Tucker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Lowman tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Tucker struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Lowman went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Tucker got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Mikayla Brackman was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Ferruzzi, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Chandler Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .450 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Benjamin Franklin's record is now 9-10. As for Chandler Prep, their record now sits at 16-4.
