Preview: Chancellor Chargers vs. King George Foxes

Having just played yesterday, the Chancellor Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the King George Foxes at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Chancellor was fully in charge, breezing past Spotsylvania 63-31 at home. Given Chancellor's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while Spotsylvania is ranked 424th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chancellor's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Charles Brown, who scored nine points along with five assists and four steals. Another player making a difference was Ja?Den Mckoy, who scored 11 points.

Meanwhile, King George had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They breezed by Spotsylvania at home to the tune of 63-31 on Friday. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point King George had established a 27 point advantage.

Eli Trulow and Aiden Wright were among the main playmakers for King George as the former scored 16 points and the latter scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wright has scored all season. Xavier Pryor was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.

Chancellor is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for King George, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15.

Tuesday's game is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Chancellor have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32 rebounds per game. However, it's not like King George struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Everything came up roses for Chancellor against King George in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 60-29 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chancellor since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
