Football Preview: Ruidoso Warriors vs. Dexter Demons

The Ruidoso Warriors will head out to challenge the Dexter Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ruidoso, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Dexter's (thus far) undefeated season.

Last Friday, Ruidoso was beaten by Robertson 68-13. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico football rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Cardinals are ranked 20th).

Although Ruidoso took the loss, they still got scores from Mason Zabel and Charlie McCalister.

Meanwhile, Dexter got themselves on the board against Cobre on Friday, but Cobre never followed suit. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 51-0 win over the Indians. Considering the Demons have won four matchups by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dexter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cj Granados, who threw for 171 yards and a touchdown while completing 87.5% of his passes.

Dexter wouldn't let Cobre keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Dexter can thank Wyatt Sena and Rigo Regalado for forcing both of them.

Ruidoso's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Dexter, their victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Ruidoso was taken down by Dexter 60-14 when the teams last played back in October of 2023. Can Ruidoso avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
