Volleyball Recap: Vienna Eagles vs. DuQuoin Indians

Vienna and DuQuoin squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Vienna had to settle for second. They fell just short of the DuQuoin Indians by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2022.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Vienna sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 24-26, 25-23.

Julez Brown paced Vienna's offense, picking up nine kills. Brown got some help from Ayva Rush and her 22 assists. Finally, Brown was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead DuQuoin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Love Dunklin, who had 27 digs, four aces, and a kill. That's the most aces Dunklin has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Kenadie Hutchens, who had 17 assists.

Vienna's loss dropped their record down to 27-9. As for DuQuoin, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-11 record this season.

Vienna does not have any more games scheduled as of now. DuQuoin has already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Massac County on the 31st.
