Softball Preview: Graham Local Falcons vs. Shawnee Braves

The Graham Local Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Shawnee Braves at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Graham Local is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.

On Saturday, Graham Local narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Bethel 9-7.

Carissa Tourney made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Tourney was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Rylee Olson was a standout: she scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Brinlee Middleton was another key contributor, going 2-for-2 with two RBI and a double.

Meanwhile, Shawnee entered their tilt with Franklin Monroe with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They had just enough and edged the Jets out 4-2.

Graham Local's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10. As for Shawnee, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Graham Local came out on top in a nail-biter against Shawnee in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, sneaking past 5-4.
