Softball Recap: Frontier Falcons vs. Orchard Park Quakers

Frontier dropped to 6-5 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Orchard Park Quakers by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Quakers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 on April 14th.

Madison Ciminelli put in work no matter where she played. She tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Ciminelli was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Ciminelli wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was McKayla Walsh, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

As for Orchard Park, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games.

Like Frontier, Orchard Park also got a great game from a two-way player: Brooklyn Meganck. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Meganck was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Emma Gibson was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. Rachel Mulawka also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Frontier and Orchard Park should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Falcons (ranked 59th) will meet West Seneca West (ranked 265th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Orchard Park will challenge Fairport at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (13 vs. 197).
