Payson hasn't had much luck against Timpanogos recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Payson will head out to face off against Timpanogos at 3:30 p.m. Payson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Payson took on Pine View on Saturday. Payson fell just short of Pine View by a score of 9-8.

Ty Marvin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Blane Christensen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Timpanogos beat Viewmont 9-5 on Friday.

Timpanogos let Carter Hall and Jackson Sotelo run wild. Hall scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Sotelo scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Sotelo a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Dash McCann, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Timpanogos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Viewmont only posted a batting average of .296.

Payson now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Timpanogos, their record now sits at 6-3.

Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Payson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like Timpanogos struggles in that department as they've averaged .433. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Payson came up short against Timpanogos in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 10-5. Can Payson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
