Preview: Shawnee Braves vs. Urbana Hillclimbers

The Shawnee Braves will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Urbana Hillclimbers at 7:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for Shawnee: they have been struggling with seven straight losses at home, while Urbana has snatched up seven consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.

After soaring to 55 points the game before, Shawnee were a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They were dealt a 73-12 defeat at the hands of North Union. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Shawnee has scored all season.

In what's become a running theme this season, Urbana gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Kenton Ridge 67-32 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 53-19.

Urbana found their leader in underclassman Alexandra Dixon, who shot 7-for-8 from long range and dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten assists. That's the first time this season that Dixon posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Peyton Mounce, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.

Shawnee's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Urbana, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.

Shawnee was taken down by Urbana 46-14 in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Will Shawnee have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
