Basketball Game Preview: Waldron Mohawks vs. Triton Central Tigers

Waldron is 2-8 against Triton Central since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Waldron Mohawks will take on the Triton Central Tigers in a tournament on Monday. Both are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Waldron turned things around against Southwestern on Thursday. They breezed by the Spartans to the tune of 63-24. The matchup marked the Mohawks' most dominant victory of the season.

Emerson Lindsey had an outrageously good game as she went 9 of 16 on her way to 18 points along with seven boards and four steals. Those 18 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiley Best, who posted 13 points and five steals.

Waldron was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwestern only posted two assists.

Meanwhile, Triton Central waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Yellow Jackets 65-40. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 25 points or more this season.

Triton Central is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Waldron, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

Waldron took a serious blow against Triton Central in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 75-45. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Triton Central's Maryrose Felling, who put up 22 points in addition to six boards and five assists.
