Baseball Recap: Mundelein Turns Things Around After Road Loss

Mundelein's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Stevenson on Tuesday. The Mustangs walked away with an 8-3 win over the Patriots. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Patriots last Monday, they had to take a 8-7 defeat.

Joey Kafka tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jake Junia was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Marano, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Mundelein always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stevenson only posted an OBP of .400.

Mundelein's record is now 10-3-2. As for Stevenson, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-9.

Coming up, Mundelein will head out to take on Highland Park at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Stevenson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Libertyville at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight.
