Softball Recap: Conway Bears vs. Pleasant Hope Pirates
Conway had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-11 to make it ten. They lost 16-1 to the Pleasant Hope Pirates. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Bears couldn't push the score so high this time.
As for Pleasant Hope, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-6. Considering they have won five matches by more than 11 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For Pleasant Hope's part, Kyra Keeling was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Keeling was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Pleasant Hope let Jordyn Miner and Addison Rogers run wild. Miner went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs, while Rogers went 2-for-3 with four runs, two triples, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Rogers a new career-high. Athena Wilson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Conway has already played their next contest, a 17-0 defeat against Norwood on the 15th. As for Pleasant Hope, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-7 loss against Billings on the 15th.
