Basketball Recap: Memorial Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Memorial Chargers came up short against the Wagoner Bulldogs and fell 36-29. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 122nd).

Despite the loss, Memorial still got an impressive performance from Mataya Hall, who posted 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. That was a full 55.2% of Memorial's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Germany, who put up nine points and eight boards.

Memorial has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Wagoner, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-8.

Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-45 defeat against Tahlequah on the 4th. As for Wagoner, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-35 loss against Locust Grove on the 7th.
