Volleyball Game Preview: Alcorn Central Bears vs. Lake Cormorant

Alcorn Central hasn't had much luck against Lake Cormorant recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bears will look to defend their home court against Lake Cormorant at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Alcorn Central made easy work of Booneville and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Alcorn Central was: they took every set by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-10, 25-14.

Meanwhile, Lake Cormorant got the win against Olive Branch on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Lake Cormorant took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-11, 25-15.

Lake Cormorant's win came from a few key players Alcorn Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Emily Huerta, who had 12 digs and two aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last seven matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Gonzalez, who had ten assists and four aces.

Lake Cormorant was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Olive Branch only served seven.

Lake Cormorant's win bumped their record up to 29-8. As for Alcorn Central, their victory bumped their record up to 19-13-1.
