Recap: Conner Cougars vs. Scott County Cardinals
The Conner Cougars and the Scott County Cardinals squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Conner Cougars had to settle for second. Conner was beaten by Scott County 63-13. While losing is never fun, Conner can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky football rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Scott County is ranked 16th).
Conner's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Wyatt Hatfield, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown, and Emmanuel Ekpe who rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown. Ekpe was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards.
Conner has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Scott County, they have yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 9-2 record.
Conner does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Scott County will be playing at home against Cooper at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cooper is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
